This research brief shares results of a Student Perceptions of Patient Experience survey administered by The Beryl Institute to healthcare students in the United States and England. The survey captured student perceptions of the views, values, and expectations of their futures in healthcare as it relates to the patient experience. The data concludes that the frequency in occurrence of patient experience in classroom discussions and educational curricula is not aligned with the magnitude of value students place on it, nor the extent that they expect it to be central to their careers. Finally, the research leads to recommendations for action that will have an impact on students focused on improving the patient experience.
